Common questions
How do roofers price per square?
A square is 100 square feet of roof. Multiply the number of squares by your installed price per square, then add tear-off, repairs and extras as separate lines.
What should a roofing estimate say about the old roof?
State whether the old shingles are torn off and disposed of, how many layers, and what happens if rotten decking is found. Those are the usual sources of disputes.
Should I list the materials by brand?
Name the shingle line and underlayment so the client knows what they are buying. It also protects you if a cheaper product is suggested later.
