Canada GST/HST calculator
Add GST or HST to a price, or find the tax inside a total, at the rate for your province.
How GST and HST work in Canada
The federal GST is 5 percent. Five provinces combine it with provincial tax into a single HST: 13 percent in Ontario, 14 percent in Nova Scotia and 15 percent in New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador and Prince Edward Island. To add tax, multiply by one plus the rate: at 13 percent, 100 becomes 113. To take it out, divide a tax-inclusive total by 1.13.
British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Quebec charge their own provincial tax on top of the 5 percent GST, and the rules differ by province. This calculator covers GST and HST, so for another combination type the total rate yourself. The rate depends on where the supply is made, generally the province where the property is.
